This Privacy Policy explains what information Flickwrite collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Flickwrite is a desktop app that rewrites highlighted text and runs voice commands. We aim to collect as little as possible and to keep your text on your machine except when you ask the AI to do something with it.

1Overview

Flickwrite is built around a simple idea: your text stays local until you ask for a rewrite. When you select text and run a command, that text (and, for voice, the audio) is sent to an AI provider only to fulfill your request, then the result comes back to you. We do not use your submitted text or audio to train models, and we do not sell your personal information.

2Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile and billing details.

The text and selections you submit

When you run a command, the selected text and your typed or spoken command are processed to produce a rewrite. This content is sent to an AI provider to fulfill the request and returned to you. We do not store your selections to build a profile of you.

Voice audio

If you use push-to-talk, the recorded audio is sent to a speech-to-text provider for transcription so your spoken command can be carried out.

Usage and diagnostics

We may collect limited, aggregated usage and diagnostic data (for example feature usage, crash logs, and word counts toward your plan limit) to operate and improve the service.

Payment information

Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers; the processor handles card data under its own policies.

to provide and operate Flickwrite, including rewriting text and transcribing voice;
to manage your account, subscription, billing, and trial;
to enforce usage limits and protect against abuse;
to maintain, secure, debug, and improve the service;
to communicate with you about updates, support, and your account;
to comply with legal obligations.

4Third-party processors and sub-processors

To deliver Flickwrite we rely on a small set of processors. Your submitted text and audio are sent to them to fulfill your request and are not used by Flickwrite to train models:

third-party AI providers to rewrite your selected text and run your commands;
Speech-to-text provider to transcribe your voice audio into a command;
Payment processor to handle subscriptions and billing;
Hosting and infrastructure providers to run the backend and store account data.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments. They may retain content briefly for abuse monitoring as described in their policies.

5Data retention

We retain account and billing information for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal and accounting obligations. The text and audio you submit are processed to fulfill your request and are not retained by Flickwrite to build a profile; any short-term retention by AI or speech providers is governed by their policies. You can request deletion of your account data as described below.

6Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to limit access to those who need it.

7Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information.

If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. We process data on lawful bases including performance of a contract (to provide the service), legitimate interests (to secure and improve it), consent (where required), and legal obligation. You may withdraw consent at any time and may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

If you are in California (CCPA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

8Cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality and limited analytics to understand how the site is used. The Flickwrite desktop app stores local settings (such as saved commands and your chosen hotkey) on your own machine. Where required, we ask for consent before non-essential cookies are set.

9Children

Flickwrite is not intended for children under 13, or under 16 where a higher age of digital consent applies. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10International transfers

We and our processors may store and process information in countries other than yours, including where AI and infrastructure providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses to protect your data during international transfers.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Please review this page periodically.
